Laptop 13 in: what to know
A 13 in laptop mockup is the usual way to show a website, online store or dashboard on a hero banner, a pitch deck or a launch post.
- Capture the page without the browser bar at full resolution, then crop to 16 by 10.
- Set the lid angle to about 105 to 115 degrees for a natural look; turn the 3D view slightly for depth.
- Put your logo on the lid design if you show the laptop from behind or closed.
Parts of a laptop
A laptop mockup is the usual way to show a website, SaaS dashboard or online store on a hero banner or in a pitch. The studio model is a generic laptop in 13 in, 14 in and 15 in sizes with a lid you can open from closed to 135 degrees. Your screenshot goes on the screen and a second design can go on the lid for a sticker or skin idea. It is a presentation mockup of a still screen, not a working device.
- Screen
- The front print area inside the lid. Your website or app screenshot goes here.
- Bezel
- The border around the screen. It is part of the model.
- Lid
- The back of the screen, the second print area. Use it for a skin, sticker or logo.
- Base and keyboard
- The lower half, in the finish you pick. Set the lid angle to show more or less of it.
How to size it
- Pick the model: 13 in, 14 in or 15 in, and set the lid angle (about 100 to 115 degrees looks natural).
- Most laptop screens today are 16 by 10 (for example 1920 x 1200 or 2560 x 1600); older and cheaper ones are 16 by 9 (1920 x 1080).
- Take a full-width screenshot of the page without the browser bar, or crop to the screen shape shown in the Design panel.
- Upload it to the front face; add a lid design to the back if you want.
- Export the mockup as PNG or JPG at the size you need.
| For | Size (L x W x H) |
|---|---|
| 13 in laptop | 304 x 215 mm, 11.5 mm thick |
| 14 in laptop | 312 x 221 mm, 15.5 mm thick |
| 15 in laptop | 340 x 237 mm, 11.5 mm thick |
Materials and finishes
- Silver
- The classic look; reads well on white and pale websites.
- Space grey or black
- Frames dark-mode screens and adds contrast on light backgrounds.
Mistakes to avoid
- Including the browser bar, bookmarks and open tabs: it looks untidy and can show private information. Capture the page only.
- A screenshot in the wrong ratio: a 16 by 9 image on a 16 by 10 screen leaves bars or stretches.
- A blurry screenshot from a zoomed-out page: capture at full resolution on a sharp screen.
How to make it in the studio
- Open it. Press Customise this laptop 13 in. It opens in the 3D studio at 304 x 215 x 11.5 mm.
- Set the size. In the Size panel, pick a preset or type your own measurements.
- Add your design. In the Design panel, upload your logo or artwork: it goes on the front first. Pick other faces to add colours, text or images to each.
- Check it in 3D. Turn the pack around. Switch to the flat print view to see the artwork on the screen.
- Download. The Download panel gives you the print template first, then mockup images for your store or social posts.
- Get it made. If you want a quote, send the design to packitmama from the Download panel, and we will reply personally.
