Parts of a hanging tuck box
A hanging box is a tuck end carton with an extra header panel above the back, punched with a hole so it can hang on a peg hook. Hanging lets a shop show many small items on a wall or a stand instead of a shelf, so it is common for accessories, chargers, cables, small toys and personal care items. The studio offers a euro slot, a round hole, or a carry grip for a box that is carried by hand.
- Header
- The panel that extends above the back panel. It carries the hang hole or the grip.
- Hang hole
- A euro slot (the common retail shape) or a round hole, sized to fit standard peg hooks.
- Front and back panels
- The main faces. The front is what hangs facing the shopper.
- Side panels and glue flap
- The narrow faces, joined by the glue flap.
- Tuck and dust flaps
- Close the top and bottom like any tuck box.
How to size it
- Measure the product or the product on its card: length, width, height.
- Add 1 to 2 mm on length and width and 2 to 3 mm on height.
- Enter Inside sizes in the studio. The header adds to the total height, which is shown under the fields.
- Check the hook on your stand or the shop's fixtures, then choose Euro slot or Round hole in the Header option.
Materials and finishes

Finishes
- Window with clear film
- Shoppers can see the product while it hangs. Rectangle, oval and arch are available.
- Gloss or matte lamination
- Hanging boxes are handled a lot. Lamination keeps them clean.
Mistakes to avoid
- A single-layer header on a heavy product. It tears or bends. Production hang tabs are often doubled; ask your printer.
- Text or a logo where the hole is punched. Keep the header artwork clear around the slot.
- Forgetting the back of the header is visible from behind on a stand. Print it or keep it plain on purpose.
- Too heavy a product for a peg hook. Very heavy items are better on a shelf.
How to make it in the studio
- Open it. Press Customise this hanging box with round hole. It opens in the 3D studio at 70 x 30 x 110 mm.
- Set the size. In the Size panel, choose whether you are entering the Inside or Outside size, then type your measurements. The other one is shown underneath.
- Add your design. In the Design panel, upload your logo or artwork: it goes on the front first. Pick other faces to add colours, text or images to each.
- Check it in 3D. Turn the pack around, and use the Flat to Closed slider to watch it fold. Switch to the Dieline view to see the artwork on the dieline.
- Download. The Download panel gives you the PDF dieline to send your printer first, then mockup images for your store or social posts.

Questions
Euro slot or round hole?
The euro slot is the most widely used retail shape and fits standard peg hooks. A round hole is simpler and fits many hooks too.
What is the carry grip option?
A die-cut handle in the header, so the box can be carried. It suits light products only.
